BFDI 26: Flower's Revenge (Jman998877's Take) (2024)

The year is 2012, and you are a young fan of Battle for Dream Island. The series is seemingly over now, its 25th and final episode -- “Return of the Hang Glider” -- having been released on January 1st. It was a great episode and a good enough finale to the show, with a nice heartwarming moment at the end to cap it off.

Fast forward to June 6th. You notice that jacknjellify has uploaded a new video. Its title: “BFDI 26: Flower’s Revenge”. This strikes you as odd; wasn’t the series pretty much done? And this episode was supposedly about Flower of all people, your least favorite character.

Curiosity gets the better of you, however, so you decide to click on the video and see what it has in store.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The episode seems to pick up exactly where the stinger of “Return of the Hang Glider” left off, with Match and Pencil idling around in the typical, nondescript grassy field in the middle of the night. “So, Pence-Pence!" Match says. "Now that the whole, like, contest is over... what, like, now?” Pencil takes a moment to think about this, then shrugs her shoulders. “I don’t know. Wanna play Spongy Cake again? But uhh, let’s not use a mini match and mini pencil this time...”

The two sit down in the grass to play, but Pencil frowns before the game can start. “Hey, Matchy? Remember how we talked about Flower and her fear of bugs and how fabulous she is and stuff?” Match nods. “Right before Ice Cube, like, popped Bubble by hugging her too tight, right? Don’t tell me you, like, actually, seriously, genuinely miss her or something!”

“No, I definitely don’t miss her!” Pencil giggles at the thought. “I’m glad she’s dead, but uhh... okay, maybe I do actually miss her just a tiny little bit, but only in the way of, like... there is just nobody else like her.” Match laughs at this. “That’s, like, soooo true, Pence-Pence! I think we should, like, play a special version of Spongy Cake in her, like, honor!” The two then began to play pattycake, chanting “1, 2, 3, 4! Who do we not adore? Flower! Flower!”

Unbeknownst to them, the camera pans to the right to show a nearby bush, wherea silhouette of Flower’s head peeks out from behind before quickly vanishing again. The intro then plays, with the conspicuous absence of Flower from the group making you feel somewhat uneasy.

The first scene after the intro has Firey flying the hang glider through the night sky while holding onto Leafy’s hand, like they were last seen at the end of the last episode. Firey is the first to speak - “Sooo, uhhh... Leafy, should we go back to the others sometime soon?”

“Go back?!” Leafy seems annoyed at the suggestion. “Firey, you saw how the other contestants were out for me after I stole Dream Island! I can’t just go back now and try to fix things! They wouldn’t even let me say my last words!”

“I know, I know, but you’re the nicest person I know, Leafy!” Firey gives her a nervous smile. “You must be able to work something out!” Leafy just huffs in frustration. “Well, I don’t think I can anymore! To them, I’m just a girl who got jealous and stole a dumb island out of spite! Why do you think I can work something out with them?”

“Because... I believe you can, Leafy. You can do anything if you believe in yourself too.” At this, Leafy pauses, then sighs and smiles up at the burning flame holding her hand. “Alright, Firey, I trust you. Take me around.”

The scene then cuts back to Pencil and Match, who have just finished playing their game and are currently giggling to themselves. “Oh, that was, like, sooo fun, Pence-Pence!” Match says. “Imagine, like, the look on Flower’s face if she was here!”

“I am here!”

The sudden voice makes Match and Pencil turn, gasping as they see Flower standing there. To call her angry would be an understatement, judging from her twitchy eye and how heavy her breathing was.

“Flower!” Pencil says, looking scared. “I thought you died! We were, uh, um, uh, not playing Flower Cake just now?” “Y-Yeah!” Match grins nervously. “Pencil, like, definitely didn’t, uh, like, uh, say she, like, didn’t, like, miss you or anything!”

Flower lowers her eyes in disdain. “You don’t miss me, huh? See, this is why I’m so mad now! You two have been messing with me for too long! You’ve killed me and you’re proud of it! Well...” She grins maniacally, laughing. “Now that the recovery centers are gone, it’s time for me to kill you!”

Pencil yelps in surprise as Flower picks her up, squirming to free herself from her grasp. “Hey, hey, hey! Hold on, Flower, don’t do anything you might regret or something!” Flower doesn’t reply, simply lifting Pencil up - “heyheywaitwaitFlowernoFLOWERPLEASE-” - and slamming her hard into her knee, breaking her clean in half as both she and an off-screen Match scream. Feeling satisfied, she lets the two halves of the now-dead Pencil drop to the ground.

“OMG, Flower!” Match nervously removed her hands from her mouth, wide-eyed and shaking in fear. “That was, like, brutal! STOP-!” She then stops mid-sentence, noticing that Flower had simply lit her tip on fire, and smiles nervously. “Oh, this is, like, nice. You’re, like... actually s-sparing me?” “Oh, I’m not.” Flower suddenly shoves Match to the ground, causing the flame to ignite the rest of her body and making her scream out in pain as she flails helplessly. She doesn’t really care about this, however, just satisfied that she’s managed to enact what she feels is justified revenge.

She then turns and gasps, seeing that Teardrop is now staring at her in shock and horror. Flower’s surprise only lasts for a moment, however, as a sinister grin quickly replaces the expression on her face. “Oh, hiii, Teardrop-o! Surprised at what I did to your little friends here?” She starts to approach Teardrop, who in turn starts to back away nervously. “Don’t worry, I’m not gonna kill you. I just hope you’re ready to take a little flight!”

Flower then kicks Teardrop into the air, sending her soaring past the horizon - and sailing past Leafy and Firey in the sky in the process. Both of them are shocked, with Firey almost losing control of the hang glider before he gets it back under control.

“Woah! Was that Teardrop?” Leafy asks. “Sure was... What’s going on down there, Leafy?”

The lemon leaf takes a look down at the ground and gasps, as an aerial shot of the ground below is shown. “It’s the evil Flower! And she’s murdering the others!” She then yelps as her hand rapidly starts to slip out of Firey’s grasp, trying her best to hang on as the flame looks fearful. “OhnohelpFireyI’mslipping-” is all she can manage to get out before she loses her grip, starting to fall to the ground as a terrified Firey shouts her name.

Back on the ground, Flower wears a pleased smile on her face as several dead contestants surround her - the numerous scraps of balsa wood that used to be Woody, the deflated corpse of Tennis Ball, the broken pieces of Rocky, and the useless, melting clumps of snow formerly named Snowball. “There we go! Everyone who wronged me is all taken care of. Now it’s time to find that Announcer and-”

Leafy, whose scream had been fading in as Flower was talking, suddenly lands on top of her, knocking her to the ground. The leaf starts to slowly get up but yelps and hastens her pace at how quick the flower turns to face her. “Uhhh... h-hi there, Flower! Uh, look, uh, really funny story about how I got back here. See, I-”

Flower suddenly pulls Leafy over, ripping a chunk off of her head with enough force to tear off a portion of her real football self as well and causing her to scream out in pain. “You! I heard about how you stole Dream Island! What’s the big deal? Did you not want me to live a life of luxury? You’re not nice at all, Leafy! You’re the most selfish, conceited person I’ve ever seen!”

Shaking in fear, Leafy’s confidence slowly starts to surge back into her as she gains a frustrated expression. “Really? I’m selfish? You should really hear yourself sometimes, FloweeeEEEER!” All her confidence then immediately evaporates as Flower rips another chunk off of her, causing the leaf to cry out in pain again as she growls in anger.

“You know what, I don’t care what you think of me anymore! Your nice girl facade ends now!” Flower puts both hands on either side of Leafy’s body and starts to tug as hard as she can, Leafy starts screaming in agony - and the episode cuts to black.

You assumed that this was the end of the episode, but like with all episodes in this series, there had to be a stinger. This one shows an arctic landscape which Teardrop is lying face-down in, having presumably landed from Flower’s kick into the sky from earlier. Getting to her feet, the poor teardrop starts to shiver and shake as she wraps her arms around herself, distinctly whimpering in an audible voice for the first time before she suddenly freezes into an ice block in her shape.

After a bit, Firey arrives on his hang glider, gasps at the sight of the frozen Teardrop, starts running over to her - and is quickly extinguished by the cold, leaving nothing behind but a cloud of mist. The episode ends there.

You’re stunned and horrified. Deaths in BFDI were commonplace, of course, but there was certainly nothing in the series quite as brutal as this. What had been going through the Huang twins’ heads for them to make an episode like this?

“Flower’s Revenge” quickly got either unlisted or privated at some point after its release (you don’t really know which it was) and was covered up later in the month by the release of a second season that seemingly undid everything that had happened in this “finale”. You don’t think you’d be able to look at a single episode of the series the same way again, however.
