  1. I have made this twice now, and will be making it again very soon. The onion soup mix was perfect seasoning, but I did cut down the brown sugar to 1/2 cup. Best part was that supper was ready when we got home on a busy night. Just had to toss a quick salad and serve. Loved it!

  2. We really enjoyed this recipe ~so easy and so tasty! I didn't use my crock pot because I forgot to get the chicken out last night and used chicken tenders because that was all I had. Browned the tenders in a small amount of oil and then covered them with the sauce and simmered them for about 30 minutes and served with rice and green beans. DH thought the sauce would be good over a pork loin and then made into BBQ sandwiches. Made for the winner of 1~2~3 Hits It's Not Easy Being Green ~ March 2010.

  3. What a tasty 5 star easy chicken recipe. After reading thru the reviews I made one change to the sauce and reduced the brown sugar to a 1/2 cup. I used chicken breasts; I'm not big on dark chicken meat. I cooked mine totally different. I put 1/2 the sauce on & baked them @ 350. After dumping off the accumulated fat, I put the rest of the sauce on & broiled it until it was carmelized. I love cooking in the crock pot & this recipe would be delicious cooked that way; time did not allow me to crock pot it this time.

  4. On 9/08/09 this was made for mine and SO's dinner. After reading a few of the reviews, I did make a couple of changes to the recipe. And they are as follows: I cut the brown sugar down to 1/2 cup, used regular barbecue sauce, the full amount of onion soup mix, and added about 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Poured the sauce over the chicken, and let the crockpot do it's thing. With it some Oriental style veggies and rice were served. Let me finish up by saying, " I don't really care for chicken thighs, but these are so good I had two " :) This will be made again. Thanks for posting and, " Keep Smiling : ) "

  5. The 5 stars is for the flavor combination. I used 4 boneless skinless chicken breast and cooked on low for 6 hours and they were so overcooked that we can barely eat them. I used a sweet chili sauce so cut the brown sugar down to 1/4 cup and it was plenty sweet. I want to make this again, but I think I'll bake it in the oven for about 30-40 minutes next time. Thanks weekend cooker. Made for zaar stars tag game. :)

  1. DELICIOUS! I used boneless/skinless chicken thighs...omitted the brown sugar...used Open Pit BBQ sauce and used olive oil in place of peanut oil. I also increased the cayenne! Perfect amount of sweetness and spice! My crockpot cooks hot so mine only had to cook on low for 4 hours. Served over rice with a side of popcorn cauliflower. Excellent meal! Kids and adults were both happy!

  2. I have to admit that I adapted this slightly.Firstly,I don't have a crockpot, and secondly I used chicken breast,as my husband (much to my annoyance!!) still struggles with meat on the bone.Thirdly,I used finely diced onion instead of onion soup mix.I realise that these changes were quite significant, but I just HAD to try this recipe.I cooked my chicken in the oven, covered,on a low heat for about an hour, then removed the cover for another 30 minutes, turning the heat up.The result was one fantastic chicken dish..deserving more than a five star rating. The flavour of this was amazing...the sweetness of the sauce being balanced perfectly with the spiciness of it.The chicken was tender and juicy, and just melted in the mouth.I served this with some pilaf rice, and it was just delicious.DH absolutely loved it,and declared it could be made again! Thanks WeekendCooker, this is a real winner!!Made for ZaarStars.
