The Nice Cream craze has blown up in recent years, and for good reason. It's a delicious, plant-based, way to get your ice cream fix while still eating healthy. This Grape Nice Cream is one of our favorite recipes for grapes because it only requires 4 basic ingredients and is only 40 calories per serving!

If you are like us you probably have an impressive crisper drawer stash of grapes for lunches and snacks. I typically have a couple of grape options on hand which means I am always open to new recipes for grapes!

Did you know that California grows 80 varieties of fresh grapes? It’s true! Most of us just call them by their colors instead of their actual name. Whichever seedless table grapes you happen to have on hand though, green, red, or black, they are all delicious turned into grape nice cream.

What types of grapes are best for making Grape Nice Cream?

While I tend to have an abundance of green table grapes on hand these days I sometimes use red seedless grapes for a more pink-hued version of this nice cream. Purple seedless grapes make a beautiful, rich-colored nice cream that would be perfect for a date night treat!

You can even use specialty flavored grapes for this Nice Cream Recipe! We really love Cotton Candy Grapes and Gum Drop Grapes. They pack a wallop of flavor that is reminiscent of candy and perfect for dessert! Plus, with those varieties, there is no need for me to add additional flavorings. I just blend the flavored grapes up with a touch of apple juice to get the blades moving and that is it!

What ingredients are needed to make Grape Nice Cream?

While you could absolutely make this recipe with nothing else other than the frozen grapes themselves. You can also change up the flavors however your heart desires.

We added honey, lime juice, zest, and vanilla to give this nice cream an extra sweet-tart pop of flavor. However, if you are looking for a nice cream that is lower in sugar you can omit the honey. The grapes are honestly sweet enough on their own to pull off this frozen dessert.

This nice cream recipe is so easy to make you don't even need any special kitchen equipment!

All you need to get started is a food processor or a blender, a spatula, and frozen grapes! Seriously, that is it.

The inspiration for this Grape Nice Cream recipe came when we were planning to make a batch of Banana Ice Cream. AKA: the OG Nice Cream! I noticed that we had a gallon-sized bag stash of frozen grapes, so instead of adding bananas to our nice cream, we used grapes. What a treat!

What does Grape Nice Cream taste like?

To my surprise, this recipe for grapes quickly stole my heart! It has a silky smooth mouthfeel reminiscent of sorbet while somehow having an effervescent quality as the grapes dissolve. You can make it textured like a granita or blend this nice cream until it's silky smooth and instantly scoopable.

Ingredients

Scale

4 cups green grapes, frozen

2 tablespoons honey

1 teaspoon finely grated lime zest

juice of half a lime

3 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

In a food processor, puree the frozen grapes, scraping down the sides as needed. Add remaining ingredients if desired and puree until smooth.

The frozen sorbet will keep in the freezer for up to 2 months.

Notes

If you only want to use frozen grapes for this recipe and no other flavorings, just add a tablespoon or so of apple juice, or water, to get the blades of the food processor moving when you begin to blend.
